Using only the highest quality transformers and capacitors to assure top performance. The enclosure in which the transformer and capacitor are housed is water resistant and rated for damp locations by Edison Testing Laboratories (ETL)
The heat-sink case/housing that holds the components is made from extruded aluminum. In the extrusion process fins are made. These fins help transfer heat from the transformer to the atmosphere, the same technology is used in high quality stereo equipment.
Our Ballasts are not painted because painting the heat sink case/housing would inhibit the heat transfer process dramatically. And of course, electrical components work better when they run cool.
Our research also determined that ballasts made of steel and
fastened together with screws create an electromagnetic echo, which causes
vibrations and noise. Our ballasts are made of aluminum which is non-magnetic
and unaffected by low frequency electromagnetic vibrations.
Please understand that our ballasts are not silent, but they're quieter than
others on the market.
Heavy duty power and lamp cords are included. Six feet of heavy-duty power cord and fifteen feet of heavy-duty lamp cord are standard. The lamp cord comes complete with a mogul socket and assembly to attach to all American Agriculture reflectors.
The mogul socket is rated at 5kv and is universal. That is to say that any HID lamp will screw in, even horizontal only position oriented lamps with base pins. A close up of the ceramic socket shows the slot the pin slides into.
