Hydroton Reusable Clay Rocks
Man made pellets. Used as a growing medium for flood and drain and aeroponic growing systems. Hydroton is a expanded pellet with a semi-smooth red clay outer covering. The red color comes from a high concentration of iron. Clay pebbles are made of 100% natural clay. Hydroton is inert, ph-neutral, clean and very decorative. You can use Hydroton for: Decoration, with it's red color and regular round shape Hydroton is very decorative and as a top-layer it will also prevent your soil from drying out. Aeration of soil, the porous and stable structure and the capilarity will make soil light, which will aid the aeration of the soil and compost. Drainage, compared with gravel, Hydroton has an advantage because it is light and it acts as a water reservoir, ad Hydroton can deposit water and release it when needed. Hydroponic/Hydroculture, in these systems soil is replaced by Hydroton. The capilarity and the structure of the clay pebbles ensures good root areation and prevents rotting, excess acidity and soil pests.
