Our Rockwool is manufactured by Grodan, located in Holland, one of best horticulture trade countries in the world.  Rockwool is very versatile you can use it to start your seeds and cuttings or grow your plants for months.  No more transplant shock, you just move the whole plug into a larger system.  You can purchase small cubes to use in the NFT hydroponic  systems we sell or go for the large stand alone cubes that sit on top of slabs.  Slabs are just that, a large chunk of rockwool placed into a plastic bag.  
Bulk rockwool is also available for filling containers.

Grodan Rockwool Grow Cubes 
Small air pockets form spaces for roots to take in oxygen but still stay moist.  Good stuff.

Grodan Rockwool:  Plastic wrapped rockwool cubes guide roots downward.  You can set them on top of other rockwool cubes/slabs or use other growing media like Silica Stones for the roots to grow into.

Grodan Rockwool Grow Cubes with holes in the top are designed to have 
the smaller rockwool cubes fit into them.  This would be after you see roots start to emerge from the smaller cube.  The holes are approximately 1.5" X 1.5" X 1.5" Sold by the sheet.

Grodan Rockwool Slabs are used to grow a variety of crops. 
Tomatoes, peppers, and many other plants can be easily grown in Grodan Rockwool.  Start your seeds or cuttings into a small cube then transfer to a larger slab.  Cut holes on the top of the slab, the same dimensions as the cube or just cut an x in the plastic top, fold the side up and slip the cube in.  If you tape the folded slab plastic to the smaller cube it will keep light out, and when the top cube is used for a feeding point, it will keep the plant nutrient in. The bottom and ends are sliced to allow the nutrient to flow out of the slab.

Agrodynamics Rockwool is basically a spun molten basalt rock.   Agrodynamics  Horticultural Rockwool is not formed and cut like the grodan rockwool cubes/slabs, instead it is baled into  bundles.  You can use this to fill pots, as a main growing medium, or use it half and half with silica stones.  Works great!
